#SupportBeyond: Transforming Education for Nepal’s Neediest Children

In Nepal, UNICEF reports that 770,000 children are out of school, and many who do attend struggle to meet basic academic standards, with significant disparities between rich and poor students. To address these pressing issues, Youth for Good Nepal (YFGN) launched Project Gyan. This initiative aimed to provide educational kits and raise awareness on basic health knowledge among needy children, with a target to reach over 1,000 students—a goal which YFGN is proud to have successfully achieved.

A highlight of our fundraising efforts was a charity musical event, organized to support parents who struggle to afford schooling for their children. This event also aimed to educate vulnerable children about the importance of cleanliness and personal hygiene, maximizing its impact. Additionally, our Tihar Deusi Bhailo Karyakram raised further funds, enabling us to provide educational kits to more children in need.

As part of Project Gyan, YFGN distributed stationery kits to 250 children at Shree Sarbodaya Secondary School in Helambu, Sindhupalchok. Along with the supplies, we shared proper handwashing techniques and emphasized the importance of education and the joy of continuous learning. For many of these children, even basic school supplies like notebooks and pens are out of reach. By providing these essential items, we aimed to remove barriers to learning and allow each child to focus on their education.

At Maya Ghar in Kirtipur, Project Gyan provided essential food, educational supplies, and laundry items for 25 children, supporting their growth and well-being to help create a brighter future. A seminar was also held at Maya Ghar in Salyanstan for secondary level students on the importance of education, followed by a special career counseling session. Additionally, we conducted a Menstruation Hygiene Awareness session, ending with a special “Sharing My First-Period Story” discussion.

Our commitment to the motto “No Child Should Be Left Behind” has driven us to make lasting changes, ensuring brighter futures for these children. By bridging the gap in resources, we have helped create a more inclusive education system, giving children the tools they need for a better future. Through Project Gyan, we have made a significant and lasting impact by providing essential educational kits to children in need. This project, under the “Support Beyond” initiative, aimed to help vulnerable students affected by disasters and crises, reflecting our ongoing commitment to inspiring change and driving impact.
