During the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Youth for Good Nepal (YFGN) launched several crisis management initiatives to address the widespread challenges caused by the outbreak. As the economy faltered and daily life became increasingly difficult, we stepped up with remarkable leadership, focusing on providing essential services like free oxygen refills, distributing food to those in need, and keeping the public informed.
One of our standout efforts was the “Hunger Relief Program,” launched with the slogan We share because we care. Through this program, we distributed relief packages to over 1,000 families across regions like Butwal, Bhairahawa, Kaski, and Dharan, offering vital support to those hardest hit by the pandemic. Among the beneficiaries was 32-year-old Rajiv BK from Butwal. His family of five, including a member requiring regular dialysis, struggled financially during the second wave of COVID-19. Our team stepped in and provided essential aid to help them through the crisis.
In addition to food distribution, we provided free oxygen refills in Butwal and Bhairahawa. This service proved to be a lifeline for many who could not afford oxygen during the height of the pandemic.
We also supported frontline workers at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa, by donating 25 bundles of water in partnership with Birat Medic Clinic. Beyond material support, we kept the public informed with timely updates on case numbers, mask usage tips, and simplified pulse oximetry guidance. We ensured that crucial information from Nepal’s Ministry of Health was shared widely on our social media platforms, along with resources, helplines, and other updates.
Through our crisis management efforts, we not only supported over 1,000 families in need but also provided hope and a sense of solidarity during the pandemic. Our remarkable work, which included oxygen refills, food distribution, and fundraising programs, addressed the urgent needs of individuals and families. Our dedication to Inspiring Change and Driving Impact remains a testament to our commitment to meaningful solutions and community resilience.
